The Edmonton Folk Music Festival is an annual music event held in Edmonton, Alberta, celebrating diverse genres of folk music from around the world. The 2024 Edmonton Folk Music Festival, was captured in stunning broadcast quality, thanks to Kiwi Productions’ expert multi-camera production system. To bring the festival’s vibrant performances to the large LED I-mag screens, Kiwi Productions deployed a comprehensive setup, including state-of-the-art JVC GY-HC900 cameras with full studio kits. These high-definition cameras ensured crystal-clear coverage of every performance, from wide shots of the stage to intimate close-ups of the artists.

In the mobile studio command trailer Our HD broadcast switcher combined with remote CCU and colour correction, allowed for seamless transitions between camera angles, giving viewers a dynamic and immersive experience while ensuring accurate and vivid visuals, enhancing the natural lighting and ambiance of the festival. The team also managed signal distribution across the venue, ensuring smooth feeds to the screens spread out across the massive audience area.

Kiwi Productions exceeded all expectations when it came to audio and visual support for Edmonton Startup Week, hosted annually by Edmonton Unlimited, including Launch Party, our flagship event. The expertise and flexibility of Bryce and his team was evident by the the setup in our space that allowed us to host over 30 events back-to-back throughout the week, the production for Launch Party at the Edmonton Convention Centre, and the content series featuring our Launch Party companies on the Alberta Impact podcast. We leaned on them heavily for audio support in our space for different events, plus the ability to record most of the sessions. The production value that included  large screens that displayed content, slide decks, and camera angles, along with audio options, lights, and stage accessories made the experience for everyone involved both on and off the stage seamless and memorable. For a smaller team, they are mighty and their passion for producing a well-polished product and experience resonated with us the most. It was more than just a job to them; it was like they were part of the team. When you host a 3 day conference with over 1000 attendees, including 650 students, 225 volunteers, 150 people from partnering organizations, and executives from multi-billion $ companies, you need an AV provider that is professional, adaptable, and organized. We required entertainment for 2 major events with 700+ attendees: an opening ceremony and a formal gala for Canada's largest Undergraduate business case competition and conference. Bryce and his team provided our projectors, screens, camera work, live streaming capabilities, switching, and essentially ran our show on the technical side.

JDC West is a complex weekend: it involves 7 events, each with over 700 people with extremely tight turnarounds to move attendees from one event to another. This makes planning, setup, and organization prior to the event critical to success, and Bryce's decades of experience in the events space provided value immediately by knowing which camera angles to use in the room and how to reposition our extremely tight ballroom to provide adequate space for equipment. We had initially planned to use a more inexpensive option for our projectors and stream switching, but it became evident we needed help, and Bryce's team were a joy to work with for our planning committee, our event staff, management at The Westin, and our audio provider, Market Sound. From the first meeting with Kiwi Productions, it became clear that Bryce would go above and beyond to make our event work. Our whole team felt like Kiwi was a true partner, not just a vendor.
